About Alisa

Chances are, you landed here because you’re looking for a writer or editor. You’ve come to the right place!

My curiosity, desire to learn and the belief that every person — and every brand — has a story to tell are what fuels my work.

My writing and editing have appeared in publications such as O, The Oprah Magazine, Travel + Leisure FamilyCooking Light, Health magazine and on web sites such as TravelandLeisure.com and CNN.com. Check out my portfolio.

I also work with companies and non-profits, large and small, to create compelling print and digital content for websites, brochures, social media, email campaigns and more. I would love to help make your brand shine, your SEO sing and have fun working together along the way. Previous clients include Time Inc. Custom Publishing, Del Mar Surf Camp, AllRecipes.com, mothers2mothers, Key Bank, YOXO toys, Minnesota Public Radio/American Public Media and others.

Before freelancing, I worked as a food + nutrition editor at Health magazine and a reporter for The Associated Press. I have produced a documentary film, toured two short films on the film festival circuit and can provide photography to accompany my written work.

A few of my favorite topics so far include AIDS vaccine research, kayaking with manatees, the best place for a Minneapolis bike ride, foods that spike your stress level and my fondness for state fairs — particularly the Tilt-A-Whirl ride.

I’m also a mother, registered yoga teacher and certified birth and grief doula. See? I really like to keep learning.

I will travel anywhere. My sense of adventure has taken me (so far) to Africa, Central America, Europe and throughout the United States. I will try most anything once (and write about it, of course), including jumping out of a plane or eating worms in Namibia.
