About Alisa


Alisa Blackwood writes and edits articles and essays about travel, parenting, pregnancy and healthy living — if she must be pigeon-holed. Her work has appeared in publications such as O, The Oprah Magazine, Travel + Leisure Family, and Cooking Light, on web sites such as TravelandLeisure.com and CNN.com, and in newspapers around the world.

Alisa also works with companies and non-profits, large and small, to create compelling content for websites, brochures, email campaigns and more.

Before freelancing, Alisa was a food + nutrition editor at Health magazine and a reporter for The Associated Press. She has written about everything from AIDS vaccine research, to kayaking with manatees, the best place for a Minneapolis bike ride, foods that spike your stress level, and her fondness for state fairs — particularly the Tilt-A-Whirl ride.

She will travel anywhere. Her sense of adventure has taken her (so far) to parts of Africa, Central America, Europe and throughout the United States. Alisa will try most anything once (and write about it, of course), including jumping out of a plane or eating worms in Namibia.
